      50 Cent Sues Taco Bell

Posted by Micki B on 07.24.2008 at 8:32 am

50 Cent is back in court again. But, for a different reason this time.

50 Cent is suing Taco Bell for allegedly using his name in an advertising campaign without his permission.

In the lawsuit, he accuses Taco Bell of “diluting the value of his good name” by using it in conjunction with its 79-89-99 Cent Why Pay More campaign, thereby fooling customers into thinking he had endorsed the franchise. What?

In an open letter published in June 2008, Taco Bell bosses offered to make a $10,000 donation to a charity of 50 Cent’s choice if he agreed to change his name for one day. Also there were stipulations 50 Cent must stop by one the chain’s restaurants and rap his order at the drive-thru window, using a new moniker, 79 Cent, 89 Cent or 99 Cent.

Apparently, 50 Cent never agreed to the terms of this so called “open letter”, but somehow ended up being the star of Taco Bell’s campaign anyway.

Oh well, this may be the most costly ad campaign Taco Bell has ever ran.

50 Cent’s Baby Mama Files Restraining Order

Posted by Micki B on 06.20.2008 at 8:04 pm

When is this going to be over? On to the next episode - 50 Cent’s baby mama, Shaniqua Tompkins filed a restraining order against 50 Cent earlier today, June 20. The order restricts 50 Cent’s access to his 11 year old son, Marquise until further notice. He is only allowed to pick up and drop off Marquise at “curbside” as he must not be on any premises where Tompkins is present. And finally 50 must surrender any firearms in his possession.

Tompkin’s lawyer Paul Catsandonis revealed that his client also intends on pursuing a permanent restraining order at a subsequent court hearing next month.

Of course 50 was not going to take this lying down, 50 responded this afternoon by filing an enforcement order of visitation with the NY State Family Court. In the order 50 states that Tompkins “has refused to allow the petitioner to see his son or visit with him.”

“On June 11, 2008, the respondant (Tompkins) did permit the practitioner (Jackson) to speack with his son,” the order details. “However, upon information and belief, the respondent was hovering over Marquise, monitoring the conversation and after a short while, she interrupted the conservation by taking the phone from Marquise and yelling at the petitioner. The petitioner was constrained to terminate the call.”

50’s lawyer, Brett Kimmel released a statement on behalf of his client.

“Outside of courtrooms and lawyer’s offices, Mr. Jackson hasn’t seen nor spoken with Ms. Tompkins in a year and a half and he has no interest in doing so now,” Kimmel explained. “The petition is little more than a tactic and a vindictive response to the petition Mr. Jackson filed seeking and order holding Ms. Tompkins in contempt of court for refusing to permit him to se his son.”

Also, there was a $20 million defamation lawsuit filed against Tompkins by 50 Cent in response to statements implicationg him in the fire that destroyed his Dix Hill, Long Island home in May 2008.

This is just a funky mess, and the worst thing about it all is this the child is in the middle of this personal and public battle - I wonder how Marquise feels.

      50 Cent Files Defamation Complaint

Posted by Micki B on 06.19.2008 at 11:27 am

50 Cent’s Long Island home was destroyed in fire last month. Shaniqua Tompkins, his baby moma and his son were in the home at the time of the fire. Since then Shaniqua Tompkins has not held back accusations of 50 Cent being the culprit behind the fire.

Well, 50 Cent says enough is enough. His lawyers are “drafting” a defamation complaint against Shaniqua Tompkins.

“There comes a point where you can no longer sit on your hands and listen to her spread these falsehoods,” say his lawyer, Brett Kimmel.

Prior to the Long Island home buring down, 50 Cent and Shaniqua Tompkins had been in court, in which he was trying to force Tompkins out of the home.

Update: Is 50 Cent Officially Off The Market?

Posted by Micki B on 06.17.2008 at 11:19 pm

It appears the rampant rumors of 50 Cent had secretly gotten married this past weekend were false.

50 Cent’s reps have dispelled the internet rumors suggesting that 50 Cent had secretly married Ciara. Apparently the photo at the center of this rumor shows 50 wearing a wedding ban. His spokeswoman insists that 50 plays a married man in his new film Microwave Park, and the photos came from the Louisiana set.

A statement reads: “50 Cent is not engaged or married. He is currently in production on a film where the character he plays is married.”

So I hate to say I told you so. So it is safe to say he is still on the market for the taking.
