Dana Owens commonly known as Queen Latifah graces the cover of More magazine’s December 2011/January 2012 issue. This magazine is geared toward “women of style and substance” which is definitely fitting for The Queen.

In this issue, talks openly about her desire to adopt a child, midlife transition and imperfection.

On adoption:
“I’m definitely going to adopt–or have–child, I’ve wanted to adopt since I was 17 or 18 years old.”
On midlife transition:
“I don’t have any regrets. If I could have talked to my 19-year or 20-year-old self, I would have said, ‘You’re going to be fine. It ain’t that serious!’ When you’re young, it’s like, ‘Oh my God, it’s the end of the world!”

On imperfection:
“The reality is, I like imperfection,” Queen Latifah says, “You take away from the world when you’re not yourself. Whatever is unique and special about you was designed by God. And when you try to be someone else, we don’t get you. Who knows what you would have contributed to the world had you just been yourself, if you just celebrated who you are and just walked boldly?”
