I didn’t see this coming…Rap-A-Lot 2K Records has filed a lawsuit against Pimp C’s wife, Chinara Butler. The label is seeking to obtain unreleased recordings from Pimp C’s estate.
Apparently, in back in 2000, Pimp C had an exclusive agreement with Rap-A-Lot Records, according to the suit, claims gave the label “sole” rights to his masters recordings. Since Pimp C’s death in 2007, his estate is obligated to deliver 10 masters recordings to fulfill the terms of the agreement.
Butler has control of Pimp C’s estate however, claims she has not been properly compensated by Rap-A-Lot 2k. She’s seeking to legal entitlement of Pimp C’s brand, music, name and public image.
I have a feeling this is going to get messy……
