An Orlando, Florida based cigar company has offered Tiger Woods $100,000 endorsement deal to be their spokesman.
Corona Cigar Company has been met with some positive feedback and a lot of negative feedback for offering Tiger Woods an endorsement deal.
Here’s an email the cigar company received:
Endorse Tiger???? Why don’t you give him an award for destroying his wife while you’re at it?? You just lost a customer, but then, I’m sure that doesn’t matter…you’ll have Tiger.
Here’s the company’s “Official Response” to those who are outraged by our endorsement:
While Corona Cigar Company does not condone Tiger Woods’ extra-marital affairs, there is no denying that Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golfers of all time. (And let’s not forget all the good that Tiger has done with his generous charitable contributions.)
We respect the Woods family’s privacy and wish the best for them as they go through this difficult time. With support from the community including local businesses such as Corona Cigar, we hope the healing process may begin.
With that said, we believe that Tiger Woods will soon return to the golf course. Nothing pairs quite as well as enjoying a premium cigar on a golf course. Many of our customers are golf enthusiasts and many golfers are cigar enthusiasts.
We hope Tiger Woods accepts our offer to be the official spokesperson for Corona Cigar Company.[CoronaCigar.com]
We live in a capitalistic society that is always looking for an opportunity to profit, even if it is at the most inopportune time, i.e. Tiger Woods marriage and public image is in shambles.
The company founder Jeff Borysiewicz said “had the sex scandal not happened, he would never have had a shot to compete with the big boys like Accenture, the first of Tiger’s corporate sponsors to pull out completely because of Woods’ womanizing ways,” as told to the Florida local news.
Well the truth is, this endorsement couldn’t hurt Tiger Woods image at all, so why not let him make a few dollars while he trying clean up his mess.
