Tyler Perry sits down with 60 Minutes reporter, who in a segment began to discuss Director/Producer Spike Lee’s opinion about Perry’s movies and the impact they have on the African American community.
Lee really feels Perry’s movies take African American community back and doesn’t show progress in our community.
I know not all African Americans are fans of Tyler Perry movies. Some simply can not get past a man dressed as a woman and some share the same opinion of Lee.

I don’t think Tyler Perry’s movies are ridiculous because the truth of the matter is lots of families whether black, white or whatever have family members that are crazy, loud and obnoxious. If you look at the basis of Perry’s movies they are about family not about gang banging, shoot outs and any other violent tales that are the norm in movies these days.
Needless to say Perry was pissed, but I am sure Lee’s opinion is not on the top of Perry’s list of concerns. Tyler Perry is laughing all the way to the bank…huh I guess Perry actually has the last laugh.
I dont agree with anything spike lee said because everyone wants to have a good laugh & not everyone wants to get there laugh from “scary movie” or “van wilder”. People want to see something thats funny & has a serious side. Something about what really goes on in the black community. And tyler perry movies arent supposed to show progress in the community they are supposed to give people in the community something to laugh at and think about.
Spike lee has a point but sic com has been a part of black households for years. Do any one rember the sic com GOOD TIMES.
I remember Good Times. At that day and time that was what was going in families in neighborhoods across America. I do respect Spike Lee’s view and I can actually understand to some degree where he is coming from. But I do believe there is a lot of room for creativity and a large enough audience across the world that could appreciate both Tyler Perry and Spike Lee movies.
