Monica Reveals Love And Why She Has Not Married Yet

Singer Monica will be featured in the October 2009 edition of Sister 2 Sister magazine. In this issue she speaks about her family, music and upcoming reality show debuting on BET in October.

Monica and Rocko look like such a picture perfect family and trust these are in love.

Jamie: You and Rocko, you all were separated for a while?
Monica: Yes, we’ve known each other nine years. we were together for four years the first time, then we separated. We realized we wanted to be reunited and have been together this time for four years as well. We both had a lot of learning to do. It wasn’t easy but it was worth it. I had to learn to submit.

Jamie: You and I talked about that
Monica: That was hard, especially when you do what I do. I work so hard to prove myself to people-that’s strictly work related-to let them see I know how to speak for myself; I know how to handle my business. I sit in these meetings. I talk for myself. I sell myself for whoever may want to see. “Oh, well, can you sell our product?” “Well, let me tell you why I can.” And you get to the point where you’re just talking at home when you shouldn’t be. So I just learned to submit and let him be head of the household.

Jamie: Is he leading you now?
Monica: Yes, I love him, though.

Jamie: You do love him. Why haven’t you all gotten married yet? Y’all going to get married?
Monica: Yes.

Jamie: Is it anytime soon?
Monica: Mm-hmm.

Jamie: Is there a reason to wait?
Monica: I did the opposite of what most women do. I never, ever mentioned it. I let him say that was what he wanted because I felt like he could live up to the commitment that we were making (if he chose it and note me).

Jamie: When did he say it?
Monica: He said it a couple of times. And now he really says it. And you can just feel the difference in our house.

The interview was very interesting and of course some of what was said wasn’t new. Monica did clear up some rumors and weigh in on bloggers.
