Kid Cudi Lands Role In “How To Make It In America”

Besides being one of the hottest rappers on the scene now, Scott Mescudi aka Kid Cudi can add actor to his portfolio as well. He will make his acting debut in a HBO comedy series, How To Make It In America.
“It’s called How to Make It in America. It’s produced by the guys that did Entourage. Mark Wahlberg is the executive producer. It’s directed by Julian Farino, who also did Sex and the City, several episodes of that and The Sopranos, and Entourage,” Cudi explained to The Arizona Republic.(AHH)
Cudi actually was able to give his character a name, “Domingo Dean”, which was named after his two older brothers Domingo Mescudi and Dean Mescudi.
In his new opportunity to jump into acting Cudi found it important to ensure his music career and acting career remain separate. Cudi does not want to be put in a box or labeled as the “rapper playing an actor”.
As recently actress Nia Long and a few other actors co-signed the whole idea of singers and rappers trying to act when they need to take acting course or simply stick to what they do best.
“When you see certain people—we won’t name names—they just don’t have the skill, and no one in their team has said, ‘You need acting classes.’”(StarPulse)
Kid Cudi does not have that to worry about, word is while he was pursing his music career, he took acting classes for about two years before he got his break on the small screen.
Kid Cudi’s highly anticipated album, Man on the Moon: The End of Day is set to be released September 15.
