Meet the five member rap group, Young Problemz from Houston, Texas, who have taken the music industry by storm. Their hot single “Boi” (I Got So Many…) has been burning the airwaves in Houston for minute and have truly has been received by the fans. Check out the interview.

How did you all get together to form Young Problemz? About two years ago. See we all from separate groups around Houston. So I (Chyco) thought we had so much talent among us I thought why not just form a super group with us. We were already working hard, and we were collaborating. So one day we hit the studio and here we are “Young Problemz”.
How would you all describe your sound? You know it’s crazy. A lot of people judge us off of the single we have out now, “Boi”. We really did that track because we felt that it was necessary.
It was more of a calculated business move.
If you really listen to “Boi”, we went old school Southside Houston. We wanted to let people know we were some young cool kats and we know where we from. We trying to make everybody happy, mixing the old with the new.
I thought so; I wanted to ask that, because normally people expect that you should sound like everybody from Houston. You know that H-Town chopped and screwed sound.
Yeah, but it really was an accident. We really did not intend for “Boi” to come out like that, but everybody liked it and thought we put it down.
How long have you all been at this journey in your music career? We all have been grinding, probably since about middle school. You know everybody is a rapper at that time in your life. We don’t really count that time, we actually count the time from when we actually sat down and decided what we were going to do. So we have been at this, on our grind for exactly one year.
What has the hustle been like for Young Problemz, such as your sacrifices and experiences? 99.9% of my experiences were bad. This game is not for the faint of heart. My advice to the kids is to go school get your education don’t be a rapper. In this game, if you were married or whatever, you may not be, because this is a full time job. I am not trying to be negative, but it takes up so much of your time and money. You put so much money into this rap thang, you stay broke. Anybody tell you they got money in their pockets in the beginning they ain’t really putting in work. And when this is not a hobby for you, you will do it all day everyday with no money.
Anybody in this game no what I am talking about.

What does each member of Young Problemz bring to the table as for the promotion, writing, production etc.? Just-O is good on the promotion aspect of our group; Chyco brings production and I’m also an engineer; Starstruck got the streets too, but he got that swag, he got the ladies. JM is really laid back, he’s really the thinker and J-Yung is cool and collected. He’s the go to guy for balance, to tell you whether something is right or wrong.
J-Yung brings wisdom
We are a strong team. We are friends but it is business first. We can be friends all day, but we have to handle our business. We do it all.
Often times when I ask that question, most people don’t know how to respond to that question. They really have know idea about the qualities of their team.
What are your feelings about your success with “Boi”? I (Chyco) am going to tell you like I tell everyone, “What success?” Let me put like this, until we see the numbers, seven figure bank account. Far as I am concerned we have not seen success yet.
Gotta respect that!
What is your next single off of your upcoming album, Howz My Rappin? We have a whole lot of street music out. Our latest mixtape “The Bailout” is available now.
We not sure which will be the next single. But we do have “F*ck Yo Myspace Page”, “Ms. Beyonce”, “Masterplan” and “Follow Me On Twitter” which can be heard on myspace. A lot of people don’t even know it is us on that “F*ck Yo MySpace Page”.
The DJs in Houston are the reason why we are where we are today.
How did Young Problemz and Def Vibe/Hall-A-Fame connect? Starstruck was at the club in the DJ booth when Toe Jam of Def Vibe was there. The DJ was playing Young Problemz “Boi”, and Toe Jam asked the DJ who was that and Starstruck said it was Young Problemz. We were in the right place at the right time.
Within weeks of Toe Jam hearing Young Problemz track, they were signed to Toe Jam’s Hall-A-Fame and Marcus Goree Def Vibe.
Do you do it for the money or the art? We do it because we love it, but this is a business so it is equal, 50/50.
What is the ultimate goal of Young Problemz? We want Young Problemz to be a power group and ultimately a household name.
Young Problemz debut album will be released August 25 and meanwhile, their mixtape, The Bailout is available for free download, click on their myspace page link above or click here.
