Jay Z has confirmed he has landed a distribution deal with Sony for his new label Roc Nation. On the other hand, Jay’s upcoming solo album, The Blueprint 3 will be distributed through Atlantic which is set to be released September 11.
Jay Z originally presented the same distrubition deal to Def Jam four years ago, and was turned down.
| “You have to figure, this is like four years ago, and to them it was just like, ‘Are you crazy? No! Make a song!’” he said. “To me it was like, I’ve sold companies for huge amounts of money. I’m an entrepreneur — that’s what I’ve been all my life. I can’t just sit here and make records and not do anything else. Why wouldn’t you want to do this with me? I felt under-utilized.” ~Billboard~ |
When his Def Jam contract nearing the expiration date and he was only in the hole with Def Jam for one album, he decided to buy the remainder of his contract for an estimated $5 million.
More On Sasha Fierce
And other news, Beyonce aka Sasha Fierce has decided to launch a new clothing line, named after her alter ego, “Sasha Fierce”. “Sasha Fierce” inspired by Beyonce’s stage presence, minus the costumey looking attire that has been worn during concert tour.
The collection is described as a “reinterpretation of Beyonce’s Thierry Mugler costumes.” According to the The Cut, Tina describes the accessories as “really over-the-top.” They include the usual shades, chains, and shoes, all as oversize, embellished, and metallic as possible.
Sort of sounds like a spin off of House of Dereon. I’m just saying!
