“He went and did from his heart as a genuine and good, blessed artist,” Keys continued. “He broke all the rules and all the records. I think he is someone that obviously inspired us all to hopefully break the rules because we have to break the rules to break the records.”(LATimes)

AEG has informed Michael Jackson fans who purchased tickets to attend any of the 50 shows in O2 Arena in London will receive refunds, in a timely manner. The promoter and its ticketing partners will have the cost and many challenges of locating all parties and refunding more than $85 million on 750,000 ticket sales.
Some fans paid between 50-74 pounds ($83-$124) each for around 750,000 tickets for the concerts, Jackson’s death has left concert organizer AEG Live the most on the hook. The secondary ticket agency Seatwave, which sold approximately 3% of all tickets for the concert has paid out $3-4 million in refunds for tickets bought for the concert on its web site.
|
Not only must primary ticket sales on Ticketmaster be refunded, but a significant portion of these sales were through the secondary market, as AEG Live partnered with UK reseller Viagogo on these dates. These secondary tickets are typically priced much higher than face value. So somebody has to track down each reseller/each buyer and coordinate the refund transaction. Adding to this is the complexity is the fact that tickets were purchased from a global market, though the overwhelming bulk were in the UK.
When you throw in the large number of VIP, premium and travel packages associated with this run, the refund effort is more than challenging. |
And unfortunately, any tickets purchased from an auction site or agency you may be SOL, there may not be any recourse to get a refund.
