Latifah Covers Essence Magazine

Queen Latifah graces the cover of the July 2009 edition of Essence magazine.

In this issue of Essence, Latifah reveals being molested as a child by a teenage babysitter. This left her unable to develop intimate relationships with others as an adult.

"He violated me.

"I never told anybody. I just buried it as deeply as I could and kept people at an arms length. I never really let a person get too close to me.

"I could have been married years ago, but I had a commitment issue.
