Akon Will Stand Trial In December
Akon will stand trial over charges in connection to a 2007 “fan throwing” incident. Yes serious offense, but silly behavior on Akon’s part.
Akon was charged with one misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a minor and one count of second-degree harassment, after throwing a fan - that paid to see him - into the audience during a concert in Fishkill, New York in June 2007.
Akon has been accused of bringing the alleged victim to the stage and pushed him into the audience. (just a side note -and I must include that this “victim” allegedly threw an object at Akon while he was on stage). The alleged victim landed on another teenager and the teenager was subsequently diagnosed with a concussion.
Akon appeared in court with his attorney, Andrea Zellan for a brief hearing at Fishkill Town Court on Wednesday, September 3. Zellan asked Judge Harold Epstein to grant her request for a jury trial on behalf of her client. Epstein agreed and a trial will begin December 1 unless a deal is reached before then.
If Akon is convicted, he faces upto a year and 15 days in jail.
